Here are some pics of the life at the tide line on the cliffs.

Caribbean Zoanthids, out of the water line most of the time, but still in the surf zone.

Urchins and fan worms in a tide pool.

Chiton. These were everywhere at the surf zone.

These crabs are all over. The dig holes to live in at the tops of the cliffs.

Wow... nice. 8) I've gotta hit Jamaica, mon. Maybe find some landrace strains, do a lot of swimming, and EATING. I hear the food there is fantastic (and spicy, I love spicy food). How long were you there?

I was there for a week. Yes the food is great. I was surprised at that actually. If you stick to the local spots you can eat great meals for cheap. Just expect to pay at the more commercialized places. I ate at ricks cafe, and it was great, but I spent $155 for dinner for two and some drinks. I could get the same meal at a local place for about $50.

Yeah the swimming is great. You can dive off the cliffs and the beach is nice as well. There is a nice reef to snorkel in Negril, and there are plenty of corals all around the cliffs as well.

As far as partying, there are no limits. Most night spots never close. Some will even pick you up and drop you off as well.

I fall asleep just after dark, I'm just not the party animal I used to be.

Still, though, being a lovely tropical island surrounded by beautiful seas and offering a gorgeous landscape, I could find plenty to keep myself busy during daylight hours.

One question; Do you ever need a rest after returning from a vacation? I always need a day or two to recuperate.

Sure. I planned that into it. I had two days before I had to go back to work. The days are short in Jamaica, and no daylight savings time.

No daylight savings time necessary in the tropics. We always schedule recovery time from our vacations, but some people think we're whacked. :D

Got any more pix to put up? It looks like where you stayed was just incredible.

Yeah, I have lots.

Here is where I stayed taken from a boat

If you go to Negril, this is the guy you want to take you snorkeling. Famous Vincent. When you see his boat you need to flag him down and make an appointment.

Ugh it kills me that I live sooo close to that yet my beach looks NOTHING like that. Too bad if you go to Jamaica you risk kidnapping

When I went to Jamaica I wasn't really interested in reefs at the time (was still a planted tank nut). Now I wish I would have taken a closer look!

We ended up climbing the waterfall there and still having a great time. The chicken there is amazing!

The funniest thing was, immediately off the cruise ship I had guys asking me to sample the finest......"island herb" available. "Hey Nike mon, we got the best herb here!"

Thanks for sharing.

I hear if you go to the "other" side of the island (away from Ocho Rios) you've got a good chance of snagging some dank that'll put you on your 'ahem'. ;)
