The pump for my sump and my closed loop are two seperate Iwaki 40s and my closed loop pump just died. My thought was to take the older Iwaki 40 from my sump and place it on the closed loop and buy a new pump for the sump. The closed loop has a Oceans Motions Squirt on it which has a GPM limit and the Iwaki was working well on it. The Iwaki was working ok on the tank, but because I had it with my old tank I used it instead of really finding out the best turnover rate for the tank, what should the turnover be?
My requirements for the new pump are:
1. The pump needs to be able to provide the correct turnover rate for the tank (155 Bowfront), which has 4 return nozzles.
2. Must be quiet or I risk my wife killing me (or the fish).
3. I would like it to be energy efficient.
4. Reliable, the Iwaki have been running for 5 years straight.
Any suggestions?
