Reports say they lost their database and backups. It's unfortunate to have lost such a large source of information. Hopefully we can build a new base of knowledge here. I encourage you folks to invite people back home to Reefs.org. If you have any ideas how to welcome people back, let me know.

Mhurley posted on another site they should be up shortly, what "shortly" means I do not know. But lets hope for all there that has worked so hard they can get it back up without to much data loss. I am just glad I have RHF's articles and mine are still safe.

Any idea what went wrong? And are they trying to repair the database or perhaps they found older recovery files to restore?

From what I have read and I do not how accurate it is, but they had all there arcives on the same server the web site uses, some how got a virus in and corupted the files beyound being able to fix it.

Just an update for those of you who don't scour other sites for information.

There front page has been update to this now. I Am beginning to think it was one big rumor. If they were truely going down would they not post something on thier front page stating that? why even update it to this? You would think their would be something official from someone at RC? Who knows anyway.

I am also worried that those letters by beerguy and mhurley could be faked by someone who hates RC. There are allot .. lol

But who know, maybe it is all true but I do not know why they would update thier front page and look all the adds are running!

Folks, all of this “news item” is totally off base. This is all false speculation/propaganda, obviously being perpetrated by someone with an agenda against RC. These so called quotes from beerguy and mhurley are totally concocted.

I wonder if Reefbuilders will provide verification for their quotes. I, along with everyone else, accepted it as accurate.

Their website is down and they're looking to bring it back up, and there are some false rumors being spread (what they are isn't specified) ... that's the only information RC has provided on their website.

Len, I read some of the other links, and the bit about libel and slander is just SUCH a load of crap. Good Lord, get your house in order before you start bandying that stuff around. Their house is NOT in order.

I hope they are not behind this.. I really like that site.. But anyone could have made up emails or quotes and sent it to them and they just posted them... RC has angered allot of people over the years..
