Couple of top downs

These were taken in my bordom tonight and I thought they were cool, both were under actinics, ones with flash on.

Ignore the bubble algae and aiptasia theyve been a pita in this tank. The aiptasias are too far for me to reach and hanging over the 3' width doesnt work for me, so I am left with CBB or peps. My wrasse eat the peps or keep them to secluded and the CBB I tried picked at my lps. So I deal with them as I can. I added a mithrax for the bubble algae but the wrasse attacked him too lol.

Looking good. I wouldn't have noticed the aips if you didn't say anything I still can't find the valonia. Can you remove the wrasse for a month for peppermints to so their thing? Mine have worked quickly in the past.

If you look under the branchs of the green acro in the second shot its filled with valonia

The wrasse would be a pain to catch but in the end I might have to, or otherwise end up with aips all over the back of the tank.

Nice top downs. Looks like the tank is filling in nicely.

You could always build an aptasia burner if all else fails........

What bubble algae & aiptasia?

Hi Ben,

The tank looks great.

I have used a Reef Gently acclimator and fish trap to catch troublesome fish in the past. It works pretty slick I just leave the trap open and put some brine between the strainer container and the main body. As the brine work their way through the strainer to the open water inside the trap the fish start going in to snag a snack. After they are used to going in for food I set the trap then sit back and wait. When the desired fish swims into the box just let go of the monofiliment string and the door slams shut trapping the fish. While the fish were getting used to the trap being in the water I have seen every fish, shrimp and crab go in at one time or another.

I tried catching a yellow Coris Wrasse without the trap and nearly destroyed the tank trying to catch him. Using the Reef Gently there were no issues catching any fish in the tank.

Maybe I should try that and throw the wrasse in my sons tank for a while. I have a bunch of acrylic scrap around from when I built my sump and could probably build a trap pretty easy.

Have you consider using a stick of dynamite or cynine?

No but I did think about an electric probe to shock the sucker. Kind of an aquatic tazer. :twisted:
