Well, that's the only reason you might know the answer. None of your other arguments stood up to much scrutiny.

But they do, you just don't think so and want to argue like you do all day in the SUMP. Unlike your guessing game my is backed with knowledge of the industry.

Carry on guessing and nay saying of what I am telling you, it really phases me none. I know my business :P

You started the whole thing on the back of one innocuous comment I made, so don't start making high-minded pronouncements about Sump style arguments. You're just as prone to Sump styles of argument as anyone else (more than many, actually). No-one made you guardian of topside.

None of your arguments stood up. Do they sell fish from North America in Japan? Yes. Do they sell produce bilingually labelled? Yes. Does the package have a label on it in Japanese? Yes.

So, you did a bit of research and found out that in this case, the product is not exported. Bully for you. Here's something to make you feel special.

 posting sump pics  I use that one as well :P

Guardian of the topside, boy you're on a roll today.

Your right, it is bilingual BUT that is not the problem. The "imported by" is. If it was destined for Japan it would have a Japanese import company in that area. Don't believe me? Why not call them yourself :P

OK, I overreacted.

But my arguments were sound. You're just more au fait with the US marine world, I'll give you that. *ahem*

And I don't take back what I said about the Sump. I hope you're not suggesting I stay down there. I'd hate to only argue with you downstairs.

FWIW, I feel Gresham is probably right about that it is a Canadian caught fish, imported by a California company, to be sold in local Asian market in the States.

Now, it is probably off topic, but the Taiwanese will pay more for a product with Japanese writing all over the package, even if it does not made in Japan, or for the Japanese. The Chinese just look at the fish inside, and know what it is, without reading the label (many of the Chinese label are incorrect, esp. the nutriential one required for imported goods).

So what do you do with the rest of the fish after harvesting your eggs?

I know a local who used to make his own fish chow by throwing in just about every seacreature in a blender and hitting puree :D

Great question! You can use it for whatever I suppose. Chop it up very fine and feed it to small fish, or cut filets and feed it to lionfish, anglers, eels, etc. No reason you couldn't add it to a blended up coral diet too.

Corals readily eat capelin puree and capelin eggs, IME

Oh heck no Tom, I hope you surface a lot more (even though you don't have a tank currently). I wish more sumpers would remember they came here at one point for the topside :)

Thanks Gresh. I did go through a phase of coming up here a lot and doing my best to contribute on the basis of what I remembered/read, but started to wonder how much it really contributed. I'll almost certainly be up and running with a new tank in 3-4 months, so will be a lot more active topside within 2 months, as I start to consider my first purchases. :)

There's no need for this kind of post here Gresh. Remember we're in the friendly GRD and not the sump. :D

It was originally! It's been about that long since I had my last tank. God, it's been a tough wait. :(

Speaking of Japanese related products... does anyone know if the "seaweed" in seaweed salad or wakame in sushi restaurants is obtainable, unseasoned in the US? I have been looking but not been able to find it. Seems like it would be excellent Tang food.

Yes, you can usually find it in Oriental markets. Just make certain that it is unseasoned. And yep, tangs love it.

And...
