I'm buying a 57 gallon rimless Oceanic Illuminata tank soon. I'm not very good at aquascaping and I want some advice or some ideas on what to do with the tank. Ive usually just done the "wall" aquascape with the live rock and it looks really boring and i want to try something new. The tank will be under 2x250 watt halides. Any ideas?

My first suggestion would be to go easy on the amount of live rock. I bought much less this time I set up my tank and while I don't think my 'scape is a work of art (far from it), the space it gives in itself makes the tank look better. Pics in my tank thread in the Members' Tanks Specifications forum.

Some people make their 'scape look pretty amazing using rock that has been drilled with holes. The rocks are then threaded onto rods which mean you can have a pretty stable structure with some amazing shapes. If you're as DIY challenged as me (or just can't be bothered), you can use the dry stone wall approach and pile things together.
