Looks very clean, that wiring looks good to me lol. I had my vortechs controllers get just a tiny water in them and they stopped working and had to be replaced. I am sure you are going to screw that thing up somewhere though. Love the pics keep em coming as you get it completed. What type of sounds insulation is that on the doors?

Well here's a true story, it's mine so I know it's true :D

I had my DC8 probably a good 2 feet from my sump, however within a year the little dipswitch part had a bit of corrosion on it (I noticed this after the fact not before btw), and I'm guessing either from the humidity or an errant splash of water from a small bubble coming to the surface... well long story short all the triacs froze to the off position (not a big deal), however the physical relays (sockets 4 & 8) froze to the on position, and this was really bad because these weren't lights, or heaters or any of that, it was my peristaltic pumps connected to my 2-part mix, so I basically dumped a couple gallons of the stuff in overnight.

Luckily my losses were minimized to a single fish, the saturation limit saved me I think :D

After a day and cleaning the from acrylic this is what I got, pretty to be sure.. but man I dodged a bullet.

So it's not so much a matter of them falling into the sump, it's more a matter of any potential salt spray or something that could ruin your day.

Grrrr. I'm paranoid now. I might have to build an acrylic box below it to protect against any spray. I have absolutely no bubbles in that area (never had salt creep in that half of the sump), but I guess you can never be too safe.

That's exactly what I did, huge acrylic shield to protect against any potential salt spray.

Could do like me and just put the sump behind the stand not in it, then I get two birds with one stone and all that humidity that could damage the wood :D

But then again I have a fair amount of space behind the tank where others typically don't :D

Ben, I got the sound boards at Mcmastercarr, part # 9107T11 for 1", 9107T12 for 2" thick. They're saltwater resistant to boot and do a great job at reducing sound.

I have no space behind my stand. I wanted it more or less flush with the wall. I treated the interior wood of my stand, so I'm not worried about damage. After 3 years, it actually still looks brand new inside (no water damage at all).

Hey Mike, if you hadn't explained I'd have thought you'd decorated your tank for Christmas. ;)

Glad to hear it didn't lead to the complete disaster it could have done. 8)

At first, I thought the tanks fully emptied because the photos make it look like there's no water at all. 8O

I attribute that to my crystal clear water conditions... *snicker*... no really though, it looked VERY pretty IMO because the contrast of colors against the white background, however within a week or two the precipitated gunk on the rocks naturally blew off and I dunno reabsorbed? settled somewhere else? Something.. all I know is I never found a huge pile of white snow anywhere :D

But really now Len? The fish floating in mid air didn't clue you off :D

I've found kalkwasser gets me polished looking water too. It's one reason I'm going with kalk again vs. a ca reactor (which I have in storage right now).

And I didn't see the fish at first :P I'm not very good with photos ... posting or viewing them.

Thanks my tank is next to my TV and rather annoying when I am watching a movie. I'll have to get some of that.

Well if memory serves.. and mind you its a pretty warm day and I'm tired, so it might right now... kalkwasser does help precipitate phosphates out or binds them up or something, and as such that's one less piece of algae fuel, so your water might look clearer as a result.

My RO/DI water is filled (I was averaging close to 100gpd on a 75gpd unit), and I've got my system running. No leaks 8) But the new Panworld 100PX-X is vibrating a lot more than my old pump. I think it might be cavitating, but I don't know. I'm going to let it run a few days and see if it settles. If not, I'm going to have to change pumps.

Tonight, I add salt and mix it all up. Sand this weekend, and rocks soon too. I'll post pics of my aquascape when I get there.

Try incresing the level in the sump to see if it stops. Is your suction side good and clear? You should have no restriction on the inlet. You could also try throttleing back on the discharge.

I'll try it again tonight with more water in the sump. The suction is clean as far as I know, but I'll double check that as well. Something could have gotten stuck, or there's just air bubbles that the pump hasn't forced out yet.

Salt added and mixing in the tank. The Panworld 100PX-X is quieting down a bit, but still louder than the 50PX-X. I guess that should be expected. I'm hoping the vibration gets better over time.

Mike, I added a quick acrylic shield below my DC8s :) Still need to get my wiring routed and neatened.

Looks... ummm good...err messy... but a good messy :D

That's one area where I lack, is wiring pretty :D On my 180 I have this huge bundle of wires that goes along the ceiling that reminds me of those telecom bundles you'd see in the basement of big buildings, 3 inches of wires :D (ok maybe 2)

Also mixing salt in the tank? I'm assuming no rocks in yet?
