My neon candy cane coral is slowly receding its neon colors from the base up. What is causing this? What can be done to stop this and promote growth?

Do I need to feed it?

I have a 30 gallon cube with 250watts mh. The candy cane is placed near the top of the tank, about 10 inches from the light.

Thanks.

It may be too close to the light source. Try dropping it down in the tank. I keep my candy canes about 16" below my lights(distance 8" water and 8" air) under 175 watt halides. Also check your parameters to see if something is out of whack.

They also feed at night, so maybe you should target feed them some tiny bits of chopped raw seafood of your
choice about an hour or two after lights out, provided you see tentacles out, that is. ANd if you have shrimp,
make sure to feed them first, or they will be trampling on your CC coral and stealing the food.

They feed at night pretty much exclusively in the wild but they can feed when ever food is present in aquaria. Mine all get fed during the day and feed rather happily.
