Aquabee pumps

Found my aquabee on my deltec 601 ca reactor had stopped working last night, and after stripping it down to try and locate the problem found that at the bottom of the pump where the shaft sits had been worn away on one side, meaning the magnet comes into contact with the inside of the shaft well.

After checking the D-D website and seeing the replacement pump was listed at $190 I searched some more and found it at BRS for $69, one question, they look identical but have deltec made any adjustments or mods to the stock pump ?

Hoping for some good news that will save me $120.

You may want to see if you can repair the worn out part by replacing the grommet .... but at the bottom of the well is a tough place to work with. Anyway, I just want to bring it to your attention that there are different version of the aquabee pump, and the newer one suppose to be better. Thanx for the reply, the section that holds the grommets has worn away and is basically now a C shape, as far as i can tell i have no way of fixing it, though any hints pointers would be great as am more than willing to try.

I read the article about the new ceramic bearings, at work at the mo and can't remember which one i have, probably the old one, hopefully the one from BRS is the same as the Deltec version and i can just screw in the plumbing and be off and running again.

I am pretty sure it's the same pump. Aquabees do this a lot in Deltecs ... happened with mine as well. I haven't reinstalled my reactor, but if/when I do, I will retrofit a Eheim.

Since you have pretty much everything, it maybe, just for fun, to try to epoxy a new grommet and see if you can get the old pump to work. But with the way the tolerance is in these pump, you probably will end up with an unbalanced rotor that will shake badly. As I say, do this just for fun if you have spare time.

Some pumps are more reliable than the other, and I never use the aquabee one. I can attest that the Eheim I have is great pump, and it runs for years without problem until I unplug it when I change my setup.
