I've maintained a 100G reef tank for years and plan on setting up a 30G tank for my daughter with a couple of dwarf angels (probably a bi-color angel and a flame angel or a coral beauty) and butterflies (probably a pair of small Heniochus Black & White Butterflyfish). I have some extra live rock that I plan to put in the tank, and I wanted to introduce snails and crabs as a cleanup crew - but then thought that perhaps the Angels and Butterflies might eat the snails, crabs and shrimp ... could anyone provide some advice about whether or not these inverts will be eaten by the fish that I plan on buying?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the butterflies, but I dont think the angels will be a problem for your snails, crabs, etc.

Most angels and butterflies are ok with snails and crabs.

On another note, a 30 gallon is no place for multiple Angelfish species or for any Butterflyfish. That size tank will make Angelfish fight for territory until only one is left swimming. Butterflies like a lot of space to move around in and 30 gallons will not cut it.

Please consider either a simple pair of clowns and a Royal Gramma, Firefish, or a species of Goby.

One dwarf angel in that 30 gal will be plenty, you can only put multiple dwarf angels in a large tank so they can each have their own territory.

agreed ....adding multiple dwarf angels to a small and even large tank usually ends in the death one or both.....they just dont play well together unless they are large (200+) gallon tanks...you might get lucky but i wouldn't bet the fishes life on it...
