NAUTILUS TE 23" PROTEIN SKIMMER
Turbo Eductor, in-sump protein skimmer for aquariums up to 300 gal

  • Nautilus TE 23":
  • Designed and tested to efficiently filter saltwater aquarium systems with up to 300 gallons (1,200 liters) total water volume
  • Turbo-Eductor creates dense foam to maximize skimming efficiency
  • Protected internal water exhaust, separated by an exponential bell-divider, minimizes the effluent bubbles that make it back into the system
  • Efficient tangential injection of water into the reaction column and large reaction chamber maximize reaction time
  • The Nautilus TE is designed to operate in a sump external to (typically beneath) an aquarium. Because the height of the water depth in each sump may vary, the unit utilizes a self-leveling height-adjustable exhaust tube for optimal regulation of internal water level
  • Nautilus TE is ozone-resistant, enabling you to incorporate an ozonator to further decrease the concentratiion of organic compounds in the aquarium system
  • Many of the parts are replaceable; should you ever need replacement parts, it's a simple matter to obtain them rather than having to replace the entire unit.
Recommended Pump is Mag Drive 700
  • Kit includes:
  • Skimmer
  • 1 water input tube assembly
  • 1 water exhaust tube assembly
  • 1 water exhause extension tube with air-diffusion sponge
  • 1 Turbo-Eductor
  • 1 length clear flexible water input tubing
  • 1 length ozone-resistant air-intake tubing
  • 1 tube clamp
  • 1 cable
  • 1 cable tie
  • 1 instruction manual

An added question, are coralife skimmers good? And part 2 of the question, what is the difference between a venture skimmer and a needle wheel skimmer?

NAUTILUS is supposed to be a fair ratted skimmer it is a favored skimmer at Reef Encounters here in Hackensack,NJ . BUT they feel flimsey and look poorly constructed in person i suggest that you vist a shop that has one and see it before you purchase.

A needle wheel skimmer uses a venturi to draw air into the pump where it is finely chopped with the needle wheel and mixed with water. Then it flows into the reaction chamber.

A venturi skimmer uses a venturi valve such a mazei injector to draw air directly into the flow of water before it hits the reaction chamber.

Of the two, the needle wheel has proven to be the most effective.

If I were you, I would look into a recirculating Octopus skimmer.
