I have heard that a sKilmer it’s not a efficient on the freshwater tank due to the density of the water.
Is it possible to use a skimmer? I’m about to start a African Cichlid tank and I heard they could Produce a ton of waste.
Is anyone here have any advice or input and experience with using a scammer on a freshwater tank.
thanks.

freshwater doesn't foam like saltwater. It will however aerate the water to a degree. So in essence you would have a really expensive airstone. Better to just run more bio media, and change out your filter socks. Or go to a sock with something like a 200 micron rating. Otherwise you would be changing it twice a day :D

Basically, all of the salts in saltwater is what allows microbubbles to form, resulting in foam. It has to do with the cohesive and adhesive properties of water. In freshwater, there is nothing interfering with the waters ability to stick to itself so the bubbles created will never be small enough to foam.
