Question Need ideas bringing fresh outside air into reef

Hi guys

1 thing I’ve never tried was to bring fresh air into reef tank to up ph a bit

I don’t wanna use my skimmer was thinking of buying an in-line vacuum pump and pulling outside air in to sump ?

Any ideas or the right pump to use I need to run 20’ of tube to get it outside

Why not use the skimmer and run the air hose outside? Could also install a CO2 scrubber

Using my skimmer was a great option. Bubble pumps will create a lot of salt creep. If you have an area to direct the line for less creep its a good option...but also be aware of microbubbles leading to the return.
I added a bathroom exhaust fan but reversed it and have it push air every 30 min or so for 5 min. Seems to help.
Fans along the surface of your display will increase evaporation and raise pH.

20' is a long way to go to run an air tube. If you're having Ph issues, most likely from excess CO2 in the room, then instead of running a line outside, which would bring fresh air directly into the tank, you may want to try and bring fresh air into the room itself. You can do this by having your AC pull in air or use a fan to bring in fresh air from the outside.

Matt..I had the same issue low PH and high water temp. I put a fan in the window and another on the sump which lowered the temp and raised the PH. The only con for me was with higher evaporation rate. I had to monitor my alk because I add kalk to my ATO.

I run a big air pump which connects inlet to tubing then run 1/2" pvc outside. Then I pump this air into my skimmers.

Following along as I also feel the low ph issue us due to the house being sealed up. Saw a pretty substantial drop as soon as the ac and fans went off with the cooler weather.

I agree maybe some open windows might solve this...but come the dead of winter that option is probably off the table. I can hear my father saying...close the dam windows, I'm not trying to heat the town.

I would use skimmer but need like 20’ of tubing to get the tube outside didn’t know if that might be tough on skimmer pump ?

Mine runs about 15' and through a co2 scrubber, gonna add a moisture chamber so I don't have to adding h20 to scrubber...

Been keeping ph at desirable levels

mine is directly in front of my skimmer
not going outside just recirculating from the protein skimmer.
brs has a video on it
don’t mind the mess

i’ve only had it running since oct11 as you can see on my graph
i use a medical grade co2 media soda lime (one of the perks being in medical field )
i haven’t changed it yet
i figured with apex i’ll see when my ph drops
i saw the video on brs and tried it
so far so good
supposedly with the recirculating air from the protein skimmer it’s supposed to last longer
i’ll let you know when i change it
