I have a 90 gallon red sea reefer, echotech powereheads and radion lighting. I have a bunch of coralline algae growing on glass but much on my rocks. I'm wondering why and how best to scrape it and have move to the rocks. any insights appreciated. thanks
I scraped a few pieces and crushed them in little tank water in small container, let it sit for a few hours. You should see a tint of red of spores in the container. Shut off any strong flow like wave maker and skimmer for an hour. Can leave filter on and pour the container over the rocks. Tiny pieces coralline you don't have to pour into tank. I seen coralline grow as in 7 days on rocks. Coralline grows best under blue light and water temperature 78--80.
Some types of coraline don't like bright light. There are also biofilms and other types of algae competing for space so in addition to Paranhapat's suggestion you might try scrubbing off some areas on the rock.
