Hofer Gurgle Buster?

Was going thru reefcentral.com pages and i came across someone building a standpipe and called it a Hofer Gurgle Buster. They claimed it was much more efficient then the method that i use (durso). Funny thing is, i've never seen this design before. Was curious if anyone here has tried it or heard/seen of it.

I don't see how it would be more efficient, but it does look more compact if space is an issue.

I have tried this and it work's well with a slower flow...When I up graded from 1100 gph pump to 3600 gph the sound was the same as the durso... But I was confident once I drilled another hole in the tank the sound got quieter... And it was...

That's like a double negative :lol2: I'm assuming that you are saying it works better than the durso at higher flows too?
