Rock help

A coworker of mine just told me that the live rock that his polyps are attached to is falling apart and his polyps are detatching. Has anyone herd of this happening? Why is it happening and how is this problem corrected?

yea its called his water quality sucks :lol2:.... it happens alot when something is not right in the water quality, temp, chemistry levels... or something is trying to eat em...
