What Is A Good Skimmer For A 150 Gallon Reef I Saw A Mtc 3000 But It Retails For About 2 Grand Way Too Much $ Any Suggestions

Beckket Skimmers require large noisy pumps that need a lot of wattage to run. Get a Deltec AP701 or this used H&S A200-1260 Skimmer and you wont be in a marked for another skimmer for a while. They are both beasts.

My Budget Is About 1000-1200 But If The Mtc Is Really Worth It Then Ill Eat Corn Flakes For Dinner For A Few Weeks

Love mine And the new smalls are coming with Eheim 1260 needlewheels, Mediums come with Airstar 1500s and there are new external models end of June. Great customer service as well.

The H&S and Deltecs are obviously good options as well.

I believe someone in the for sale section is selling a 200+ setup and with it a nice H&S skimmer for a reasonable price, do a search, I think that would be a nice option

They definately have a similar shape but dont use a beckett, just some good ol eheim/airstar power. Ive got the Small with a 1250 meshwheel at 18 watts, and I would say its good up to 200 gallons well stocked. One of the best part of these skimmers is how the company takes peoples advice into consideration for development on the very next shipment of skimmers. I got mine 2 months ago and the new Smalls already have an upgraded pump (that is compatible and a cheap upgrade for me!). Not to say my pump is a slouch, but its nice when manufacturers listen and can create something that works in very little time (and is backwards compatible to earlier models). Anyway...worth looking into with that budget in mind. You wont be disappointed.
