i have a Emerial Carb about the size of a quarter. i was wondering if I should put him in my big take to eat some green hair algae. would this be a good idea? i have read that went food is unavailable it will eat the coral. also what are some other natural algae eaters.

I dont have sand in my tank, i have a few snails and some hermit crabs bt none of them seem to be going to the rock with the algae

You will never get a straight answer each crab is different, like say peppermint shrimp and asterina stars, some have issues with them and some don't. I personally have never had an issue. The only time I have seen one nip is when the coral is right next to some algae and the crab grabs the wrong thing, never a persistent nipping at all.
