Mini Generator

Is there a mini-generator or something like that which i could buy that would power my mag 5 return from my sump? Im looking for something simple that i could hook it up to incase of a powerouttage. Everything else would be fine if the power was out for a few hours, but if im away and the power goes out and back on the mag will push all the water from my sump into my tank, which would be very bad

there is a battery pack that u plug into the wall and the plug you're mag drive into the batterty pack and if the power goes out it will run off the charge of the battery not sure how long it goes for. I think they have it at radio shack

You can use a power inverter with a marine deep cycle battery (similar to a car battery). Running only a Mag 5 on it will probably last easily a full day (probably more).

can i go with a 150w inverter?

i saw a 400w inverter for 35$. Will this work well and can i hook more stuff up to it such as my skimmer and fuge intake and lights?

I have a 750w inverter. They are not that expensive. A 300w heater will use up about half the available power. A mag 5 is probably about 50w. Do the calculation for all the appliances you'll want to run. The 750w inverter I have, has three outlets built into it. Take that into consideration too.
