Melted Tunze power cord

My tunze's power cord got melted by my heater. Thanks to my wife.:banghead: It is the 120V AC model instead of the 12V. It was melted through the outside black plastic close to the unit itself (i.e. it will be under water) and one of the wires underneath was also melted with the wire exposed. The other wires are OK so the unit will no short out with the power on. Is there a way to re-seal it without trashing it? Silicone, epoxy etc???

you should post on the tunze forum on RC. They are usually very quick to help.

yes you can use it fix it and get shrink wrap to cover it, but would also wrap it with pipe tape

I will not trust the shrink wrap for water tight seal. I use them a lot for electronic stuff. They are not that thick and how am I supposed to slide it over the power plug. I don't really know what pipe tapes are. Are they supposed to be water tight also? But either way, like someone else mentioned, I'd rather not risk it and get a replacement motor instead.

regal can you post a pic ? if the inner insulator wire wasnt burnt then shouldnt be any problem, if it was then you really would have to splice it anyways, hd carries it in the plumbing supply or here is this
