ok, i know you guys are hi-tecH when it comes to skimmers, but less than $100, what would you recommend

more money to buy salt for water changes because skimmers available for that cheap don't do much for removing wastes. Keep checking for used remora skimmers or small Euroreefs

no sump...

With no sump, your application narrows down to a HOB skimmer and the only three that I know of or used are the AquaC Remora, CPR BakPak & Seaclone.

I guess if your looking for "used", you can get the latter two for >$100. Sometimes I see used Remoras with no pump go for $100.

I agree I just got a CSS 250 modded it and the performance is amazing. I think it may actually be better them my MR-1 :0 Time will tell if it will outperform it. But so far it has been pulling dark dry skum out only in the initial 48 hours. Get the 65 Coralife Super Skimmer needle wheel from thatpetplace.com it think it's $69 plus shipping

Hey Ink, if you are coming to the fragswap, I can give you a seaclone 150, aka sea clown. Not the best in the worls but it will do its job. It comes with a maxijet 1200. Let me know if you are coming. Its free and it will pull some good nog out of the water. On RC there are several threads that convert the skimmer using simple tools into something quite good. One of the things I wanted to do in the past but never got around to it was to convert the maxijet into a needlewheel pump utilizing half a bioball. I have seen them in action and I was quite impressed. Besides free is always good!!
