I'm a big fan of MH ever since I changed my tank over to them awhile back. I now have PC for my actinics, but would prefer T5. So obviously I am supporting the second light.

I don't really see how they compare though, those lights are not similar at all.

I know they are not similiar but I want to upgrade I currently have pc and I dont know if I want to go to halides or t5 so I was looking for opinions and just wondering if either of these lights looked like they were good quality or a good brand..Thanks

When It comes to lighting which is one of the most important parts of your reef tank I would go with a quality fixture like current or corallife , with a non name brand its hard to get warranty help or parts and most come with cheap bulbs that you will want to replace anyway. For a couple extra bucks go with a well known company! But that's just my opinion :)

i suggest u check out successful sps tank in a mh n a t5 tank then make your is decision. lighting is expensive but important so worth every penny. if u like the florensent tube look, then go for t5, if u look the sunlight look, go with mh.

Trust me when I tell you that the outer orbit is an okay light nothing more than a decent fixture put into a nice clean package. The mh reflectors that they use leave alot to be desired. Please take a look at the lumen bright or lumin arc(if you dont have the mounting height)fixtures with a electronic ballast and a good bulb.....reeflux,xm,helios.....You simply cannot compare these items and to be honest with you they are not far apart in pricing. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED.

hey i did the same thing before and bought off name lights. i found myself upgrading frequently. do your research then make a decision.

if you are going t-5's you may want to consider a retrofit kit or a ati powermodule fixture.(looking back at all my past purchases i would have gone with these instead)it will cost a lot but you will be happy in the end and will not need to upgrade later.

a good site to look at would be reefgeek.com
