So this morning before I head out to work, I usually check/stare my fishtanks as a habit. I have 2 (10 G) aquariums. One has saltwater damsels, whilte the other is a freshwater fancy tail guppy tank with a crayfish in a holding container. While looking into the freshwater tank, I noticed the crayfish missing from the holding container. Its about 3 1/2" to 4" long. It didnt jump into the guppy tank and it also wasnt in the damsel tank. Both tanks are basically flush together side by side.

So where can it be, I asked myself. I checked under the stand, Under my sofa. Then I wondered if it just died and i'll find it later. Ofcourse I was running late and so I left not ever wondering what happened.
At 9:30am, my fiancee calls me asking if I had a huge lobster running around the apartment. She was sleeping when all this happened. She was so freaked out when she went to the bathroom and turned on the lights, she saw a giant lobster looking animal staring at her. I wish I was there to see here reaction but her voice on the phone was just priceless. She was able to put it back into the tank without killing it, though I bet if she had the chance she would have.

Just thought I would throw this out there.
She's probably still pissed off right now.
Atleast I got a laugh at the office.

Hahaha this happened to me too when I kept freshwater. My blue crayfish was huge and it, for some weird reason, was able to climb out (my final guess would have been he climbed out through the air tubes). Anyway I couldn't find it so I thought it died in the tank. Not a moment not a minute later my Mom screams to her lungs. She was like "We have a blue cockroach!" She told me later she was just about to step on it. A crayfish saved.

Yeah my crayfish escaped my tank back in the day too. It actually crawled from my living room to my basement. Probably did it over night as when I found it in the morning it was all dried up. At least the turtles had a nice meal.

She wasnt as pissed off yesterday when I got hom but she did say she'll get rid of the smaller tanks if it happens again. The bathroom was about 20ft away from the tank. Thank goodness the bedroom door was closed.
The crayfish is the typical brown one from petland. Use to house it in my 55g arrowana tank but decided to change my setups a bit and its now in my guppy tank. If it was a blue crayfish, i figure she would have thought she was dreaming. I tend to just add livestock to the tanks and occasionally she figures out some items are new.

As of today, The crayfish was in the tank before I left for work. heheheheh

I was at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens a few summers ago when something cold and clammy crawled onto my foot. I was too paralyzed to even look down. Then, it started pinching my toes! I was jumping and screaming like a crazy woman. The couple next to me was pointing and yelling, "langoustine!!" Yeah, a toe pinching crayfish. At least all the people around me had a good laugh :)

That must have been nerve wrecking to not look down and wonder what the pinching was coming from. Sometimes I ask myself when i go to the beach if something in the sand is gonna eventually pinch me. Guess I gotta wait and see when it happens.
