My clam has been moving quite a bit over the last week. It was attached to a rock I had buried in the sand for several weeks, and managed to pull the rock to the surface while doing so. Today I noticed what appeared to be its foot (?) on the rock it was attached to. I tried to reposition the clam but it felt like it had rooted itself on the bottom of the tank. But upon further inspection I discovered the following.

As you can see in the picture, it appears to have attached to a snail. Perhaps that is what was attaching to the bottom of the tank??

Question: should I remove the snail? Will doing so harm the clam? Should I just leave it as is? It otherwise appears fine (coloration, response to light changes, etc.)

Any help would be much appreciated, as I am at a loss here!

Leave it alone, the snail will move but if you pull it off you stand the chance of damaginging the clams foot and that can be much more fatal for the clam than the snail.

It should let go of it eventually once it wants to go to another spot. Poor snail though. Say a prayer for it its probably screwed.

.....hey now... wait a min..... Noone thinks about the snail, only the clam! dubbew tee eff man. Where are all our Snail Activists! PRO-SNAILS! Why not let the clam die to save the Snail? huh?

And then i google this collection. lol.

it take quite awhile for a clam to attach to anything and the attached thing would need to be stationary too. i find it hard to believe the snail is alive.
r u sure the snail didnt try to come up to the clam underneath n got caught when the close up in defense.
