Hello everyone, I am aquiring a Via Aqua chiller 1/10hp for my 46ga bowfront. I have a couple of questions, (1) does anyone know if I will need a seperate pump for the chiller? (for circulation), (2) does this chiller have a controller for the heater? (3) has anyone here used one/feedback appreciated.
Thanks, NYC Reefer

yes you will need a separate pump for the chiller. I have a current 1/10 chiller and I think the max flow is 150-200 gph

I have a maxijet 400 to push water through it.

I don't think any come with built in pumps.. but I may be wrong.. if the chiller is rated to handle your return pump speed you could put it inline but I doubt a 1/10 is rated for your return pump.. at least not mine since I run around 300gph on my return.

why use a chiller on a 46 gl tank.cooling fans over the top would cool the tank.u could get away without a pump.use a syphon method.syphon water from the tank through the chiller to the sump and make the return pump pump the water back to the tank.

Thanks everyone, I did not buy it from SARAHANDKEVIN, just the Vortec Pump and backup batt. I will wait till the summer arrives to see if I'll need a chiller. At that time I can see if I can get by with one of those Azoo Fans, I like the one that has (4) fans on the unit.

The only chillers that don't need pumps are in tank chillers. You will know them because they come with long titanium coils that are placed inside your tanks sump.

IS the flow requirement that low!?

The Current Prime 1/10th chiller I have states that 430-720GH of flow is required.
It also states that it will add 6' of head.

This makes the ViaAqua seem more desireble...
