need some blasto help..placement,(flow) lighting, water quality and feeding.

moderate to lower light- moderate flow--- near the bottom of a tank that if well lit. i feed mine whatever my fish are feeding on (cyclopeeze, etc) but I don't think they need to be spot fed. pretty easy to care for IMHO and nice looking.

Mike if it's Blasto Wellsi it need to be placed low in the tank away from the light. Do don't like alot of light. It's better to place them in an area where they can reach out to the light with their polyps. Also keep low or no flow on them. You can find them Cy-pees or brine shrimp. Some people don't feed them at all. They can be hard to keep sometime as polyps may just close up for no reason. wellsi are very very slow growers.

If it's Merleti then you can place them in the middle of the tank as they like some light. Also feed them Cy-pees or brine shrimp. They don't like alot of flow either.

Hey Mike,

I concur w/Michael, the bastos I got from House the first time I meet you at gs, is now at the bottom of my tank. It seems to be happy there after I move them from lower mid. I do not spot feed them only what I feed the tank globally.

My blastos, from Jim, are doing very well in moderate to high flow. For lighting they are about 10 inches from the surface directly under my halide. They've been doing great for as long as I've had them. Just my nickel.

i moved them to a lower flow area..and i get good lighting all the way to the bottom. but i did try to get them far from it(250 mh x 2 1ok, bout 10" from surface).

I losing it. It tgif! my light is 250w 14K 23" to blastos. Flow depend on which ph is on (low-meduim?).

I have to disagree with you there Michael. Under good conditions, some wellsi can grow very fast. I have a couple of wellsi that produce babies like crazy. I also had one polyp blasto become 13 decent size polyps over a course of 6 months. I also had a 3 polyp dime size become 5 polyp halfdollar size. But on that note, i had some that just recede and die......

Its hit or miss.
