Transfered frrom a 30g to a 65g about 2 weeks ago, for the past 2 days am going through what hopefully is a mini cycle but dont really know whats goin on ....everything in the tank was well, and is still well except now for the corals which are on day 2 of not coming out (except the capenalla from the frag which is getting bigger by the day....have mostly leathers and mushrooms, but whats the deal here....

tell tale sign i am seeing here is brown cyano on the sand bed....but did a water change last night 20% ......

Water Parameters

Deanos said:
What are your ammonia and nitrite levels? Those will tell you if you're having a mini-cycle.

The weird thing is my water parameters are nothing out of the ordinary ....
Nitrate almost 10 ppm
Nitrite 0
amonia fine...

what can i do, i feel as if something is not right, even the star fish i have (sand sifter doesnt look good, fish look fine though) ...

Amonia Spike

whatever the prefix is after the nitrate ....but its not high almost 0 ...i think i may have an amonia spike going on though .....need a new skimmer and maybe the lack of rocks? i have enough rocks to fill my old tank about 30-35lbs but prob not enough for th 65G

Chris,

What are you running for filtration besides the rock? If it's just rock, then you need more . Did you check pH or alkalinity?
