Currently the tank is not full of much some zoo, softies, anemone and a couple of fish and to be honest price is not an issue as long as it doesnt go over five hundered. but the real issue here is replacing the not so good skimmer i have. Dont know i like the bullet series and the MTC i heard is a good skimmer will see.

With $500 and a 110 gallon tank, I am pretty sure you can't buy the "best" skimmer..

The ATB skimmers have come down in price.........I think you can get the ATB 840 version 1.5 for your 110 gallon for about $665 .

I have an ATB and like it for its performance but most importantly the customer service from Victor at ATB is outstanding. If you ever have a problem Victor will take care of it just like Roger at Tunze.

< may not have had some of the upper brands atb, bk or a beckett, but i have had about 15 skimmers, how big of a area do you have for the skimmer, here is some reading for you, the last thread is the one to start with, mojo ha had alotttttttt of skimmers in all price range's companies and ect. if i was to say anyone has skimmer knowledge from all types he is the one to ask

Have you looked at the Alpha Kone 250? Royal Exclusiv & Vertex Aquaristic combined to make these efficient guys and they are at a low introductory price right now too. I've also ran a Hydor Performer 1000 on my 200gal. tank and I can tell you they are very underrated or under the radar (which ever u prefer). Pulls out a full cup of sludge every few days. If your interested, I'm dismantling my 200gal. tank in about 2 weeks and won't be needing it anymore. But if you got the dough, I'd go BK. Gotta love German engineering.

leo.....i said for the mini's size (9"x9" base) you can't get a better skimmer

Bubble king is nice.....Mojo on RC ran his BK 180 against the ATB 840 and liked it better. Would have been nice to see the Deluxe v. The BK 180

They are both good skimmers and not sure one has a comparative advantage other than contact time and turbulance minimization is IMO better on the ATB.
