Hate being away

I miss my reef tanks...I'm currently away on a business trip and more than almost anything, I miss seeing my reef tanks.

Before I left I must have stood in front of my big tank staring at it for 10 solid minutes, looking at each coral, each fish, I even took a picture of it with my phone and have looked at that more than a few times...

I did water changes on all of my tanks before I left, made up food packets for my family to feed the tanks (50+ with all of the tanks & the pond), drew lines on my top off containers so they can keep them full, made a ton of top off water and left them phone numbers of reefing friends to call in case something turns to crap and they can't reach me..so knock wood, hopefully I'm covered on that end.

Off to MACNA right after this meeting, and that's cool, but damn, I miss my tanks!

Is it just me or does the same thing happen to you?

I went away for a week on vacation. i called the house to speak to my wife and my first words were hi honey how is the tank. i caught alot of crap over the one im still hearing about it.

Orb is a kind of go to my pc type internet software orb.com. Well recently they added a feature that allows you to hook up a web cam and be able to watch your home if you need to from your phone, laptop, computer etc....

So now you can watch your tank while you're away for free

well during the summer i go to camp and cant look at my tank for 7 weeks!! i dont know what im gona do next summer!!

Personally I worry if my tank is recieving the proper treatment. My top off and dosing is not automated and my family seems to be less than adequate when it comes to taking care of animals. When I left for 4 weeks in the summer I came back to find the pump broken, my tank half full, and all my corals and clams dead. Now itwill be Avery long time before I leave my tank unatended. Trust no one! Lol

I have a picture of mine hanging on the visor of my work van. I stare at it often. I always miss my tank.

I used to drive myself crazy but not as much anymore. Going away every year for two to three weeks at a clip took care of that phobia.
Sounds like you have everything covered Kathy. As hard as this may sound just go to Macna have a great time!!! Try not to think about because it will drive you >>>>>>>

Since I pretty much automated everything, I rarely worry anymore. The only thing I do manually is feed. Dosing and top off is off my mind

one of the worst feelings, i hate leaving my tank.

1. no equipment is fail safe.
2. no one can take care of your tank the way that you do.
3. i get caught on the regular staring at my tank like a vegetable. it's an escape.

for some of my family members, they wouldn't even know if something was wrong. very frustrating. and aside from worrying about equipment failure or unexpected problems you miss them. but when you return, it looks better than you remember and everything is fine. it's difficult to realize things continue in your absence.
