seaclone 100 skimmer problems

Ive been using this skimmer for about 6 months now...it worked fine....but its not skimming anymore...the collection cup has been empty for 2 days now?? any thoughts on why?

Foam prefilter is clogged,
Water in the air line, if this is so you'll hear no sucking of air.

I had to say that!!!. Did you add any chemicals in there in the past couple of days? Also the seaclone is a seriously underpowered skimmer. Look on RC and check out the seaclone mods. Some of the mods will make the seaclone about three times more efficient that it is now. Ignore the monster seaclone though. That one is overkill. You will know it when you see it.

I'm using a Seaclone 150 in my smaller tank. What I did is I drilled a small hole in the middle of the of the cover of the collection cup. Then I inserted a rigid airline tube attached wooden airstone in one end all the way to the bottom of the skimmer. Be sure the airstone makes small bubbles and it will fit in the smallest cylinder in the middle of the skimmer. Then attach the other end of the rigid airline tube to a regular airline tubing attached to an airpump. The idea is to create more fine bubbles in the bottom of the skimmer. You will have to adjust the airflow of the skimmer as to the amount of air that will pass from your powerhead. Too much power will bring some of the bubbles into your tank. This is the simplest way I could think of utilizing this skimmer. I?m using a AC Remora in my other tank and it works very well. Goodluck.

Changing the airvalve will definitely help. At least you can dial in the skimmer a bit better. I dont think cutting the tube will do much.

Are you willing and able to do some larger modifications?

yeh i think imma get my self a better air valve today...yes im willing to mod my skimmer more...no knowing what im doing...thats another issue....wahts a larger mod?

I have a Seaclone myself, I added the valve mod and added a 90 degree elbow to the waste cup. The valve made a major difference in the ammount of bubbles.

the valve works i get alot more skimm after changing the valve the skimmer used to works like sh*t tho without it lol it sill sucks but its alot better n i mean ALOT

ak don't speaj bout it i think they all have ich =T or i could just b confused nows because they could be not ich but codepods? mabe even on the fishes to dag owells im giving the hypo for 3 weeks just in case n leave the main tank empty for 6weeks

ohhh damn man...thats harsh...i had ich in my tank when i first started.....i was going nuts...all my angels and stuff were dropping....i feel you man
