NEW Marineland LED Fixture

I just got an email from PetSolutions for these new LED fixtures from Marineland. http://www.petsolutions.com/Marineland-LED-Aquarium-Lights+I47432990+C1.aspx thought I'd share it with everyone. I wonder how good they are, they're fairly cheap although it states that they're as powerful as a twin tube strip light. May be a good alternative to T5s?

Ad says not recommeded for reef tanks. The LEDS look pretty spaced apart. Maybe you can add them to T-5s to get the shimmer?

Might be nice for a FOWLR instead of power compacts, but I'd like to see pics of the light in action. The wavelengths in the chart don't seem like it'll look that great.

junk, i hav one i got the 18-24" version and it barely lights my ap24g you wont be able to keep corals with it

It states in the description that this light is not intended for "reef tanks"..so, why would you say that it is junk b/c it is not strong enough for you AP24? It is not intended as a main light source, so when you use it as a main light, of course it will fail. If you are going to give it a "rating", then you must rate it when it is used in its intended place.

I have one of this 24in.first of all not too much light so I did replaced all LEDs to 3W,8xblue and 4xwhite and have it over my frag tank,that is how looks now.

how can i rate it ? well i own one thats how, and i know it isnt for a reef, don't have it on a reef, it's on my see horse tank, and they say for planted, well i have alot of macro algea and it wouldnt be enough for it, so my rating is correct, it is JUNK. the supposed 1w each led's that total 9 of them produce no where near as much as light as my 4x1w current led light, and cracks me up they have it as a double bright light, my azz double anything. ziggy where did ya get the replacement leds and did you need to change out the driver ?

I have some 3W LEDs from Ebay and I did not replace it driver I had to rewire the center LEDs couse center ones are only 1W.
