I am looking into buying one but have not looked yet and want your imput.
Is it worth it?
Were do they sell them the cheapest?
Do you have to calibrate this every time? is it a PITA
How accrute are they?
I hate testing water so looking for easy way out.
I use salifert test kit for this and I cant tell if I have phosphate or not sometimes and heard good and bad things.

If any one lives close to me and is willing me to stop by so you can test my phosphate I would appreciate it before I buy one. LMK

I seen them going for $250
is it high?

I picked up a Martini photometer from Milwaukee with a hard case and 100 reagents for $160 shipped. From what I gather it is just as good as Hanna. It does need to be calibrated to 0 as per instructions for each test but the total test is done in 4 mins or less when I do it. I've see the Hanna meter go for $200 shipped online. Pm me and we can set something up, I live in Elmont so its not that far.

Is the Milwaukee meter easy then Hanna?

or are both a PITA?

Milwaukee is almost exactly the same. But both are great.

You do however have to have am ample supply of testing reagent, because you will want to take 3 tests and take the mean of the 3.

Also, with ALL photometers, you will want to keep the inside of the device, where the ampule is placed spotless (use a q-tip) as well as the testing vial themselves.

Just due to the nature of the beat keeping them as clean as possible will get you the best results.

I use the Hanna but it is in no way perfect, the Hanna has a +/- .04 variance and i have tested it with distilled water and still got a .03 reading so i know mine is off. I still trust it more than any titration kit as they cannot get a reading to the levels we are looking for. I do not have any experience with the Martini kit but i suspect it has similar variances as i know someone with a Hach photometer.......which is a $1000 meter and he has a +/-.05 variance.
