Tunze vs. Sapphire in Solana

Which skimmer in a 34g Solana?
Tunze 9002 with StevieT collection cup or Sapphire Aquatics?

I have the stock Tunze, would just have to get the new cup, or sell that and get a sapphire?

Well I can say the Tunze worked for me very well. I would be able to tell you about the sapphire skimmer if Sapphire weren't jerking us around with their skimmer and why it's been a month since the order was placed but they haven't shipped them their distributors.

I would stay with tunze. You already have it and the sapphires are expensive. I don't think they can be that much better than a tunze. The LFS highly recommends these but they have tunze running on their systems. I only knew one person running a sapphire and he sold it after a month. Makes you wonder.

Do you kow if the magnet has to come off the tunze to make it fit in the first chamber w/ the StevieT cup on it? It looks like I can use the magnet if I extend a piece of the wall between chamber 1 and 2 or just put a piece in above the wall.

I had the old version Can't tell you about the magnet either. Nano Reef has lots of info about it. Also on RC the solana owners thread has lots of info as well.

It fits in the first chamber without removing the magnet (of course only with StevieT cup).
