Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the annoying thread but wanted some advice. I currently have a 28 gallon and need better flow. My question is if I get the mp10 or mp20?
Reason I am not sure is because I plan to upgrade eventually (1 year or who knows maybe longer) to a tank around 60 gallons (give or take a few).

Would an MP20 even be applicable to my small size tank now? Or should I just get the MP10 and if need be in the future add an MP20?

Thanks everyone who reads!

Cooper

While an MP10 is fine for your current system, if you are already thinking of upgrading, you might as well go right for the MP 20 and run it on a lower setting..

Thanks for the fast reply.
My only concern is would the MP20 be too powerful for my tank? On the website for Vortech its listed for tanks 30 gallon-70 gallon so 28 gallon is ok or no?

Sorry for the annoying stuff just wanna make smart choice

I had the mp20 in hopes of an upgrade down the road but that won't be happening for quite a few years so I switched to the mp10.

Sorry to be annoying but do you think its just smarter then to get mp10 for now since my upgrade wont be for a while (just wishfull thinking of a year)

I just dont wanna get the mp20 and have it kicking the heck outta my critters even turned down.
Would it be realistic to have an mp10 and something else in a 50-60 gallon cube in the future?

The MP20 is a great pump. Lets just say your upgrade no matter when you do it is closer than mine probably. If you want to go with the MP10 you can't go wrong, it is a great pump as well. If you choose to dial down the MP20 your fish and corals will be fine.

I am in the same position Dr. Cooper. I am planning on a the mp20, I know someone on this site who keeps an mp-40 on his 28 gallon nano-cube with no problems. His tank is really nice too. You can dial it down pretty significantly. I am looking for an mp-40 or mp-20 for my tank so that it is upgrade proof, whichever I find the better deal on is the one I will jump on.

the mp20 won't be kicking anything if its dialed all the way down. its fine. just get the mp20. some guy on here is selling his for $225 in the FS section.

go with an mp20. I think the mp10's are good for tanks that are more narrow like the 20 gallon long or the standard 10 gallon size.

I've used both pumps and feel like the mp20 is a lot wider (flow wise) than the mp10. You can dial it down to almost nothing and it won't hurt your corals or other inverts. I have used the mp20 on my old Solana and am using one on my 45 Marineland Cube. It's perfect and will be better to upgrade in the future.
