MTC Skimmer question

Any one familiar with the marine technical concept skimmers? I have one and not sure if I have it hooked up right, it never has any skimmate in the overflow cups? Is that even possible? every system should have some waste no? Ive adjusted it so the bubbles hit the top of the tube that goes into the overflow, anytime it does overflow its never that brown gunk like i see in pics mostly just wet skim. The skimmer is powered by a rio 2100 in the overflow, I have a tetra deepwater 96-2 pump that powers the 2 airline hoses inside the skimmer, what the hell am i doing wrong???

Are the bubbles micro sized?

nah, not really. the bubbles at the top of the chamber right? they're like regular bubbles, as if you were blowing bubbles underwater with a straw.

Your gonna have to figure out how to tune it.. U want small micro bubbles.. Ive had the same problem but with different skimmers.. Check out some skimmers on youtube to get an idea.

yep, got 2 airstones powered by 2 airlines from the tetra. airstones are the long block style.

Maybe u need new stones..? Ive heard the wooden ones work the best.

it has 2 stones!! not like a tornadao, no not really. maybe thats the problem? is the tetra deepwater not powerful enough?

It should be but the bubbles have to be small.. Did u get the skimmer new??

it was given to me used but i saw it working when he had it. Im thinking of just giving them a call, they're based out of NJ and theyre not that far from me. hopefully they can help me.
