After college I worked for a few weeks at the old Al's Aquarium on Nostrand Ave. (The owner was an Al Albano...any connection to the Albano here?)
They used to have a sea turtle on display in a tank...it was fairly small for a sea turtle...but it took up lots of space in the tank. Still, it seemed happy enough...ate the large goldfish...2 chomps and a puff of scales..probably not the most nutritious thing to give freshwater fish to a marine animal, but reptile requirements are probably way different from SW fish requirements. This was way back in the 70's, I don't think that turtle would last too long on display now.
goldfish dont make good food for anything, fw,sw, or otherwise. I think sea turtles eat mainly jelly fish, but im sure it varies species to species.
I'm sorry if im a bit confused, but this thread is a joke right? Whoever started this doesnt really think you could keep a sea turtle in a home aquarium right? I've found that sarcasm doesnt really translate well in the world of blogs, im's, and forums, but this cant be real. heheh it does remind me of a funny store though... When i worked at eddies aquarium this crazy spanish guy manuel used to come in all the time and he would tell us stories about his black cobra's dislike of his wife, and how it would attack him but "it was only mock bite". So anyway one day he walks in dead a$$ serious and asks if we could get him a great white shark. His plan was to either convert his inground pool to sw, or to flood out his basement to accomodate the creature, he hadnt settled on which yet. I was really tempted to tell him we could get one so that he would try to flood his basement, but my concsious got the better of me and i settled for telling him that they werent available that time of year. Its a memory that im 100% positive I will hold on to for the rest of my life.
Just in case this is a real thread... you cant get sea turtles this time of year, but try asking again around august when theyre in season.
:supermad: :duh:
