I just got a used 40g breeder tank with a built-in overflow compartment along the back. The compartment is separated into 3 chambers; 1st two have "overflow teeth" and the 3rd only has a return "hole". Also, the tank is not drilled. My question is, what do I need to get this tank up and running from a water movement/filtration point of view?
TIA

what is the relation b/n each chamber? are all 3 connected through some sort of baffle? if so, it probably works like those jbj nanos. you probably just need a return pump to get the water going. as for filtration, you could put rock rubble in the compartments. i'm currently also running some carbon and nitrate sponge in my canister filter to keep the nitrates low. but having rock rubble in the compartments will increase your nitrification capcity, so then you can have more live stock. i have a 65aga, and i thought about getting a 40 breeder. i'm currently using a rio 1700 return, just to give you a small reference on what size pump you need. HTH.

Thanks Anthony, I'll look into some water pumps. Here's the best pic I could manage tonight:

In this pic, the 2 right chambers have the teeth. I might even be able to fit a narrow skimmer in the middle chamber.
