Need a little help... Bit of a leak

Hey. So I decided to upgrade my sump with a 55 gallon tank. After screwing up the baffles, I finally got everything hooked up and water running. Then I noticed water leaking out of my reef octopus skimmer. I tightened the hell out of it, but it still seems to be leaking. Does anyone have ANY ideas? I was going to try and put it in the sump, but I don't have enough room under the sump or behind the tank. The part that's leaking is the joint underneath the red ball valve. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Jim,

There is a black rubber gasket that sits insode that little depression on the bottom part of that Tru Union Ball valve. that is the source of the leak for sure.

if you bout that valve used, you're screwed, if not, check with the supplier or look for it on the floor somewhere.

Ok. I took the valve apart and it seems like I only have one O ring. Are there supposed to be two?

one o-ring per union... in the first pic it looks like its missing one..

Exactly what Alex said - the first pic showed this ring missing.

Also, if this valve is not perfectly seated flat, it will leak. You have to get it just right and you should be able to feel it depress the gasket

You can bring the one O ring to an auto parts store they sell assortments of O rings..or if u wanna take a ride I have some..or you can go to home depot and look at the unions they sell and see if the seal matches yours..then you "buy" it for the seal...lol
