Increase the frequency of your water changes, don't overfeed (or underfeed either) and change out your carbon & phosban more often until the glass stays cleaner longer.

How often do you change the carbon & phosban?

if I have to clean my glass more than once a week I know the phosphates, silicates nitrates etc.. are on the raise which means I have to either cut down the feedings, increase water changes, change the phosban/carbon more often or increase the amount used, lower the bio-load( too many fish etc) clean the skimmer more often.........or a combination of all.

Plus 1 for new tank syndrome. My tank had brown algae at first and several months later it went down on it's own.

Perhaps you finally got the tank parameters in check after a few months, and that is why it cleared up.

I would agree with what was already said by many Mike NY said it best....water changes, check your feedings, clean skimmer, etc

lol my lights are on about 14hrs a day.
I really enjoy looking at the tank so i'll just keep cleaning my glass every other day.
I also feed heavy as well. My corals are very healthy though and that;s more important to me.

You can run actinic or led lights before and after your main MH/T5. This will give you 10-12 hours of lighting, but only 6-7 hours of intense lighting. I have always used a 1 hour warm up of actinics and/or LEDs, 7 hours of MH and 3 hours of actinic/led lighting.......actinic are also ran while MH's are on. Not to mention moon lights when other lighting is off.
