does having ice cap's ballasts really matter?!?

I hear alot of talk about how ice caps over drive your bulbs etc...do they really? or is this just a sales gimmick and all electronic ballasts are pretty much the same? i just dont want to go out and waste my money getting ice caps when its all pretty much the same.

its a name, and reputaion! If you don't care about the name, then any ballast will work. Icecap has their own technology for their ballast that states it can overdrive flour. bulbs and also soft start it, that will make it last longer.
There are many other ballast manuf out there, AFO, PFO, hellolights..etc.

just like peter said you are paying for the name basicly i see no different in output from different manuf of the same type ballast ,been changeing ballaast for 40 years in the trade,i have use top of the line and low end and get same result,

Your also paying for the customer service. From their sponsor forum on RC, it seems that many are happy with their CS and 2 yr warranties.

i heard they use electricity...
saving you bucks on in the monthly bills..

but i'm going for the EVC ones... cause they cheaper HAHA
monthly bills are baiscally monthly payments to me... better than paying a big payment

Keep in mind the resale value of IC ballasts are high. You'll get dirt if you try to sell other VHO ballasts.
