Im having a hard time right now with my 225dispaly,total voulme 400. Some of my sps has some bleaching in spots, could be from the sudden jolt of GFO to drop my Po4 levels. My Procal reactor seems to be a real PITA lately. Its been in use for 3yrs now but every day I have to fool around with the flow, it seems to drop after 8hrs or so. I took this thing apart completey and cleaned it like new last weekend. I love this hobby but lately its kickin my butt and I think I need someone who really understands it.

po4- undetecable
Nitrate- .02
Calc- 450
Mag- 1300
Iodine-.1
Temp- 77-8 - 79

There could many variables.

1. Natural seawater has an alk of 6.5-7.0 dkh. If these Sps are new, there could be some alk shock.

2. Your lighting may need bulb replacements.

3. If your skimmer is not working properly and your tank room does not have a window cracked, you could be suffering from a swing in the ORP of the water. Check your pH swings because that could show a sign of CO2 buildup which changes the O2 ratio in the water.

i dont trust saifert test kits,i would buy the hana digital meter to make sure its zero
i have trouble with sps either from po4 or lighting, i do 25% every 2 weeks to make sure
alk seems perfect
do you overfeed?

honestly I feed once a day 2 cubes only and sometimes skip a day. I rinse thru a net. I dose 1 drop of lugos iodine everyday and do 55g waterchanges weekly. Should I go back to biweekly? I used to only use elos's test kits till IA Had some real issues again with the sps bleaching ect, my test kit was showing me an ALK of 8 when it was really 12.5. So I whent to Saifert. Where can I get a Hana meter? I will be at the swap this weekend will you? Would like to thank you personally. Bill

My bulbs are getting old maybe 9 months (4-250w,4 39w actinics) Wet room is fully vented and I leave the door open. SPS is maybe a 10 months old now. Re stocked after a huge crash in March

From what I understand changing salts may swing levels being each salt has different calcium, alk, and magnesium levels. So when you change your salt you have to test the levels to make sure you are on point or you can shock your tank.

looks like the tips have coral growth.the other areas may be the light is not hitting that area due to shadowing of the sps branching.other then that it may be the change in salt or check to make sure you have no aefw
