Not exactly. The "mesh mod" means you replace the foam in the media with a plastic mesh. Since the Biopellets can run in the reactor for months without any maintenance, the foam fills up with gunk and restricts flow.

The plastic mesh allows flow without clogging.

Ah ok, I dont use one. I do have the outflow pour into a filter sock.

I do the samething I, have a sock on the return just in case, something manages to escape( the sock gives me peace of mind.
