ID this blenny (Native species)

I just caught this blenny along with a few others that are larger Mamaroneck. I've never seen them before. I picked up a tree in 15' of water and it was covered in these little guys. Got 4 ranging from this guy being the tiniest by far to about 3 1/2". They have huge fins, they almost look identical to lawnmower blennies...
I think they are feather blennies in which case they could go in my reef... Just seems weird that they are able to withstand such cold water! (surface water temp is about 50 right now)

Same fish perched on some algae. He's the size of a small glass shrimp...

I don't see why not.

I see them around here all summer long, and the water gets pretty warm--especially in the shallow areas where they live.

Give him something hollow to live in.

Thats funny I collect all year long and NEVER saw these, I just catch naked gobies. These are awesome I was afraid they only liked coldwater though, glad to hear I can put one in my reef as I have been wanting a blenny for months and I couldn't find one to fit my needs. As for a home for one of these, can I put a piece of PVC with a cap on one end under the sand with the opening sticking out? Seems like it would be the best choice to keep the tank looking good...

The PVC sounds like a good idea.

I've seen them living in beer bottles and hollow pieces of wood, neither of which would make an aesthetically pleasing addition to your tank.

what else have you been catching over there? id like to get me some feather blennies. Id come all the way from mass to collect a few different things. I also hear there are horned blennies in Far Rockaway. I will be spending a lot of time down on Long Island next summer....but if there are still some stuff around id like to maybe go down there this Saturday.
