check with masterswimmer about these magnets that he gets. They work awsome. You can silicone them to a PH and put one on outside of tank and they hold.

Believe it or not, I go to the dollar store, and get the clear ones, that you use to hang things on windows. They come in different sizes, you take the wire or plastic hook out, they're CHEAP, and they last pretty well.
