Acans and Zoos?

I am curious to know because ever since I place the peppermints in my tank for the aiptasia problem, I noticed some poly's missing and my acans look like their dying.

I am gonna test my water now to see whats up.

Thanks everyone

Are you 100% sure it is a Peppermint shrimp? (who don't eat coral)

Camelback shrimp are fairly similar to Peppermints but Camelbacks DO eat coral ...especially zoas:(

Thanks for the replys everyone. I just noticed some heads missing on one colony and all my other zoos are fine. I bought the peppermints from Tropical Island Aquarium, and Mike to me is trust worthy.

I will look into it though Kathy!

ok first of all theres 2 main types of peppermint shrimp. One wont even look at aptasia, the other will possibly think of eating it. They will both eat coral

A grouper would eat every shrimp in your tank. Plus they get huge! Try a soda bottle fish trap. Cut the top of the bottle and invert it. Place it in the bottom section and add a lil crazy glue gel. Just tack it on so you can get it off later. Fill it with tank water and put some food at the bottom and place it in the tank. Those shrimp will be in there quick! Do it at night and try to watch so they arent trapped in there to long.

I never had problems with peppermint shrimp as far as I know. Acans have always been fine. Zoos disappeared a few times but I found a ton of asterinas and I'm still trying to get them all out. I literally have seen the asterinas on top of the zoo wrapping around it then it would be gone so I know it was them. You might have asterinas eating your zoos. I think a lot of the time it depends on the individual animal. Sometimes animals that are supposed to be very aggressive are actually very tame. Most of the info out there is a guide line.

1 asternia star in my tank, and that was just recently. It even missing a few limbs when I saw it.

I will post a pic up tomorrow of my acan and zoos

Thanks for all the help everyone
