Doubtful it was a parasite..maybe the acans themselves died and wiped out the tank. I almost had a small colony of acans wipe my tank out last week. I was doing water changes the last few days I think I'm going to do another one just to be on the safe side. Don't get discouraged man $#!T happens. It happens to us all just get back up on that horse. I have some leathers and stuff I could hook you up with.

Thanks!

The toadstool is not dead.

Also, I doubt this was from the lights being out. You say you had a 175W MH running as well? That should have been enough to keep everything alive for that period of time. It sounds like something died and sat in the tank and everything else went as a result. The most likely culprit would be the elegance, there is so much tissue in there that once they go they can really foul up the water. I'm surprised that not one fish lived though. Do you have an ATO by chance? What is the salinity of the water? Temp?

I can give you a few frags to get started again.

Thanks. I took the Toadstool out yesterday cause I didn't see how it can be alive so if it wasn't dead it is now which sucks. tHE FISH DID SURVIVE...i lost 3 though. Rest look ok.

Temp is always 79(chiller) I'll check salinity.

Well yesterday I lost my Hippo tang. Then I obviously checked my Salinity because I knew the other params were ok, Ammonia, Nitrate, etc. My salinity was 1.017. It was tough to even write that just now.
I started using a Bubble Magus I got from a friend and every so often it would go nuts and pull a lot of water from the sump causing my ATO to kick in and replenish a lot at one time. Well what I didn't realize was that it was basically doing a water change except it was with straight RO/DI water. This happened a few times the 3 weeks prior to my vaca and once the night before I left. Just didn't think about the Salinity. Sometimes its the thing you take for granted and don't test often that gets you. This explains why I lost three other fish but I assumed one succumbed to his beating from the other clown and the two others were new...

So the skimmer was essentially the cause of the issue but it was my fault obviously for not realizing what was happening to the Salinity. Josh's post also made me think abt salinity but when I saw the hippo dead I knew...

I agree with Josh, lack of lighting wont kill the fish. I would suspect the temperature was the issue. Why did your TEK bug out? Is it on a timer? Is the heater on the same timer? That's where I would look for an answer.

As horrible as this is it is a valuable lesson to learn and at least now you have figured out the cause, not knowing is so much worse. Nothing will bring the fish back but knowing how to prevent it from happening again is worth some piece of mind. Good luck and don't give up.

Its true. Just so dissappointed that it was so avoidable and I lost so many beautiful corals...Life really. You feel like you just let them down and they died cause you messed up. Def a wake up call. You get attached to your fish and corals. Watch them grow, know they're personality...maybe I'm being overly sentimental but screw it. Lesson for all others who read this.
