Hey everyone , have a quick ? The last couple of days some of my fish have been having like almost like whitish stuff on there fins and body's. It's not ick, but I think it's some type of fungus or something. My tank he 3 months old my parameters are as follow:

Ammonia - 0
Nitrates/ nitrites - 0
Ph 8.1
Salinity 1.25
Mag 1300
Cal 450

Everything seems great there is only a anthias that has it and a yellow tang. But would love to know what it is and how to treat it. Thanks everyone.

Hey I recently went through something similiar. At first I thought it might of been velvet disease. But since only one of my fish had it on them I did some research and came to a conclusion that it was simply an bacterial infection. I did a 30 percent water change and enriched his food with garlic. Literally within a day the white stuff on him had almost dissapeared. In your case it sounds like it may be velvet because it has spread to another fish. Or it could be that they are attacking each other and therefore causing the infection. I would do a water change as soon as possible and feed them ( hopefully they are still eating ) food enriched in garlic. Good luck! ~Andrew

as mentioned above its most likely so type of bacteria possibly caused from ur fish nipping one another. fish diseases are difficult to diagnose. talk with ur LFS and beware of people that are so quick to diagnose. no need to freak out, it usually goes away on its own, provided ur nitrate is low. if u havent already started i recomend adding and soaking vitimen C and garlic supplements to ur food before feeding. also watch ur tank more often then ur currently doing to notice signs of improvement or lack of.

good luck----Ross
