How long does it usually take for this cloud of sand to settle?

Should I turn on my return pump and let the tank run as normal or should I leave the return pump off and let the sand settle on it's own?

Very little progress in the last 24 hours.

Thanks MRM.

Yes turn on the return pump. How else can the water get to the filter socks to clear? It will all eventually settle as is, but you will stir a good bit of it up again once you turn the pump on, so you might as well do it now.

+1
each day you should see the water clear up a bit more. IME, it usually takes about 3 days and its almost crystal clear but you might need to clean the front glass.

Did you clean the sand before putting in the tank .
Meaning wasing or rinsing it.
I just put 40 lbs into a established reef and cleared in less than a couple of hours
Also let it run through sump and keep a eye on filter socks hope you have spares.
LOL
