Dipping scoly

Just curious in knowing if it's okay to dip scoly with coral rx? Getting my new scoly delivered tomorow and not sure if the dip will harm it. If not. How long is it okay to dip lps?

Why do you want to dip it? What are you trying to prevent?

if i was going to i would use melafix for 4-5 mins tops

Flatworms or any other pest that might be on rock? Is it not a good idea?

I would not dip it..I don't like dipping corals especially for a long period of time I would think 4-5 mins in melafix would kill it. I would either just not dip it or do a fw dip

I dip all my incoming corals for a minimum of 5mins with revive...

Read the instructions on the bottle, you will be fine...

i dip every thing 2 times that goes in my tank first 7-10 mins in revive then 5 mins in melafix have not killed anything so far

I dip my corals in lugol's for 5-10min, never had a problem and the coral always opens without shutting the light (which I do anyway)

thanks guys.. so you think coral rx is too strong? or is it okay. everyone said to use either lugols or revive

Interesting conversation. However, I am still on the fence about dipping corals... Maybe someone could explain the positives and negatives a little better.

If you use coral rx only do it for a couple minutes. Softies and lps don't seem to like coral rx that much would def be careful. I would personaly use revive on it. I use revive on lps and zoos

There is no negative to dipping a coral if done correctly..

funny video. i've never experienced anything like clingers except for aiptasia. I only do LPS, it seems like they would probably more sensitive to it.

Funny video! I have always dipped everything and havent had any problems with it yet. Just started QTing though, a bit too late. Picked up some zoa eating nudis from an LFS even after dipping. ALWAYS DIP AND QT!!!!!
