My name is Rob from Otisville, NY. I am a 27 year old factory worker. Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum here. And tell you a little bit about my adventures is fish/reef keeping In April of 2011 I Started out with a 29 Gallon Freshwater setup and within 2 months I moved everything over to a 55 Gallon Freshwater setup. I have always wanted to get into salt water but the cost factor and lack of knowledge I had regarding it had kept me away. I always figured that Salt water tanks were very difficult to maintain. So after doing tons of research online I ran into a good deal on an established 28 Gallon JBJ Nano Cube reef setup. I purchased this setup in July of 2011 and it came with everything (rock, sand, soft corals and everything that goes with the nano cube. No fish were included.)

Once I got the setup home I let it sit a few weeks to settle and I went to petco to start stocking with fish. I first put in 2 Ocellaris clowns and a Cleaner Shrimp. I then added a Yellow Watchman Goby. The clowns did excellent. The Yellow Watchman Goby developed a huge hole in his abdomen and eventually disappeared (he was never found). I then added a Royal Gramma that was in the tank for about a week until he was found dead on the sand bed being eaten by the cleaner shrimp. All my water params were good so I just figured that I bought the fish sick from petco.
At the beginning of January 2012 I upgraded my setup to a 40 gallon breeder tank and have it filled with LPS, Soft Corals and Fish. Most of which were transferred over from the 28 Nano Cube.

So after 7 months into the saltwater hobby I am very happy with what I have accomplished. I did spend money but at least I have the peace of mind that I am doing everything the right way. I attempted to add a link to youtube of the video i made but it's not allowing me until i have 5 post. Below I have listed all the Equipment and stock that I currently have?.

welcome to MR,
from your list it looks like the tank is stocked up already, and you need to upgrade. lol, cant wait to see the tank

Yeah, i def. filled it up... I actually had to place my mother colt coral in the back of the tank. My green bubble tip refuses to stay at the front and always moves to the back out of sight. I am helping my dad set up a 72 bowfront reef so i will have room to move some stuff out once he gets that going.

Nice tank. The black back wrasse was the most difficult fish for me to keep, unfortunately it didn't live. I loved how the blue specks glowed under actnics.

Yes. Before i purchased the Black-Back i heard they were difficult. He is a very picky eater, only will take frozen foods. He is one of my original fish. Was in the tank at petco for a few weeks. figured if he lived in their tank for that long he must be pretty hardy and so i took a chance on him and he is now one of my favs.

As far as getting a bigger tank, thats out. I live in a fairly small apartment and having a 2 year old with loads of toys keeps the living room full. Eventually and space permitting i would like to do a 125 gallon reef. Thats further down the road though.

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome and i look foward to my time here at MR.
